On a mission to do our best, our research, exploring and experimenting led us to our way of creating pure and gentle coconut wax luxury that’s ‘Better for. Better than.’

Karena Gibson, Founder
Inspired by luxury classics and grounded by consciousness and care, Karena Gibson founded Karmal as a passion project to bring goodness and responsibility to the luxury market for purpose products.
Karena had spent over three decades in the corporate sector and in design production management. Her professional experience, insights and drive meant she was perfectly placed to turn her passion for luxury candles into an exciting business venture.
After extensive development, researching and subsequently sourcing the pure coconut wax and other high quality ingredients and processes that aligned with her values, she made her idea and ideals a reality.
Karena resides and runs Karmal operations in Tai Tapu at the foot of the Port Hills near Christchurch, New Zealand. She’s inspired by the outstanding beauty that surrounds her every day.
